Inimitable and iconic diva Alison Moyet is coming to South Africa for the first time, the organisers Afroasia Management announced this week.
Moyet’s first two concerts will take place at the Emperors Palace near the Johannesburg’s OR International Airport on 13-14 December 2013 at 8pm, while the third show will be held on 15 December in Paarl at 8pm, outside Cape Town, in the Western Cape province, the Thailand-based organisation said.
The Paarl concert, due to be held at the Liquifruit Amphitheatre, will be part of the Culitvaria Summer Concert series.
The three concerts will feature the very best of the bluesy voiced Moyet and the hits of her Electro-Pop ‘80s band, Yazoo, her personal hits of the past 28 years and from her current hit album “the minutes”.
Moyet, born in Essex in England as Genevieve Alison Jane to a French father and an English mother, emerged from the British post-punk scene in the early 1980s as one-half of the synth-pop duo Yazoo.
Yazoo sold millions of albums and enjoyed a string of hits over a two-year period, including “Only You” and “Don’t Go”.
The diva is currently enjoying great success with her acclaimed eighth album “the minutes” which shot to number five on the U.K. album charts.
Prior to her exclusive South African concerts, Moyet will be touring the United Kingdom, Europe and America in a series of greatly anticipated concerts.
