‘Thrilled’ SABC receives 67 SAFTA nominations

The annual South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA) are hovering over the skies of the South African entertainment industry, and already the corridors are full of gossips and murmurs to scrutinise who has been nominated and not nominated, and why.

In Johannesburg’s Auckland Park, headquarters of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), ecstasy and fever continue to build up day after day at the prospect of seeing more of its 67 ‘properties’ nominated take home the Golden Horn, and therefore being crowned small screen champion in its category.

The SAFTA Awards reward, celebrate and promote the creativity, quality and excellence of South African film and television talent, the organisers said yesterday. They also encourage entrepreneurship and the development of new talent in the industry.

The award ceremony, which will be held on 15-16 March 2013, will be screened live on SABC3 on 16 March, including highlight packages of the previous day, SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago said.
