Tamasha Gambushe, fondly known as Tamarsha, the newly-crowned Black Carpet Presenter for SABC programme Selimathunzi, will be flown to Johannesburg, where she will begin a life on the fast lane of stardom.
The 24-year-old Umlazi (Kwazulu-Natal) beauty will be booked in a four-star hotel, and taken through a five-day course in presenting and exposure in Auckland Park in preparation for her big day presenting live at the 13th Metro Music Awards (MMAs) broadcasting on Saturday 1 March 2014 from the ICC in Durban, the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) said today.
She was announced the winner during Tuesday nights’ episode of Selimathunzi on SABC1.
“Tamarsha won out of online entries exceeding 4000, and auditions held for over 100 shortlisted candidates,” Selimathunzi creative director Joshua Mudau said in a statement.
“The process was not easy and between SABC1, Metro FM and Ukhozi FM, we are confident South Africa will fall in love with Tamarsha the way we have.”
Tamarsha full winner’s package will see her co-host this year’s Black Carpet at the MMAs ceremony alongside Zizo Beda, Sinazo Yolwa and Amanda du-Pont on the RGB Live Broadcast at the Black Carpet, the SABC added.
She will also get the opportunity to present inserts for Selimathunzi.
An elated Tamarsha said: “The audition process has been a great experience for me. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was able to meet new people and I have learnt much. It is a great opportunity for me that I’m immensely grateful and honoured to be a part of.”
