Sibongile Khumalo is the queen of jazz and wants this title to remain hers for many years to come.
To demonstrate this, Khumalo, who will celebrate her birthday on September 24 – Heritage Month in South Africa – is urging her fans and all jazz lovers to come in numbers on September 20 at The Teatro at Montecasino in Johannesburg to take a pre-celebratory sip of music, ahead of her birthday.
This show acts as a curtain-raiser before the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz on September 24. She will be joined on stage by Kabomo Vilakazi, Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse and Mimi Ntenjwa.
She won’t rest, will she? Just four days after the Montecasino and one day after celebrating her birthday, the Queen will head to the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, where the 2014 Standard Bank Joy of Jazz Festival will kick off and goes on until September 27.
The Joy of Jazz is produced by T-Musicman, and is brought to audiences by Standard Bank in association with the South Africa’s Ministry of Arts and Culture, the City of Johannesburg, the Gauteng Province, and South African Tourism.
