A star-studded live concert will take place at Moretele Park, Pretoria, on 30 August 2014, to pay tribute to all South African musicians, most of whom are seen as heroes and icons who have worked hard to promote freedom and democracy in the country.
The organisers, Drakensberg Promotions, said this week that the Moretele Park Tribute Concert, now in its 17th edition, will bring together a parade of exceptional artists for a dayl-ong party filled with with jazz, pop, traditional and dance music.
Musos such as Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Letta Mbulu, Jonas Gwangwa, Mafikizolo, dance maestros Mi Casa, Johnny Clegg ‘Zulu Blanc’, Thomans Chauke and Ringo have all been booked to perform at this hottest party.
Other performers include Lira, Bhudaza, Musa (last year’s Idols winner) and Zonke – all adding up to an unmissable music encounter par excellence.
Emerging jazz artists and groups will also perform on the day – all in the name of paying a befitting tribute to South Africa’s music luminaries, while showcasing the next generation of bubbling-under talent.
“We are immensely proud that the Moretele Park Tribute Concert is now widely regarded as being the hottest springtime party in the country,” Leonard Sithole, of Drakensberg Promotions, said in a statement.
The show starts at 11am, and continues into the night. Tickets cost R300 (about $30) and are available at Computicket.
