The Sheraton New Orleans Hotel is bracing itself to welcome one of the world’s most exciting media conferences, the Excellence in Journalism (EIJ), on 18-20 September 2016 in the United States.
EIJ is a joint initiative of the Society of Journalists Professionals (SJP) and the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA), and it aims to provide journalists with the industry’s best training and networking opportunities. The 2016 event is being made possible with the collaboration of the Native American Journalists Association (NAJA).
The city of New Orleans (Louisiana State), which still vividly remembers its dead and survivors struck by hurricane Kathrina in 2005, will once again be in the spotlight when hundreds of media professionals will descend there to debate, among others, the future of investigative journalism during a special session animated by Marty Baron.
Baron is the Boston Globe editor, a newspaper which 14 years ago had published a series of stories of Catholic priests abusing children for many years. The Globe also found that the Catholic Church covered it up.
Dubbed the journalism event of the year due to its motto of creating excellence, EIJ will be host to top news professionals from broadcast, print and digital newsrooms across the U.S.
