Lumko Mtimde is the new CEO of the Universal Services and Access Agency of South Africa (USAASA). Mtimde, a former board member of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), commenced his duties on May 23.
Reports said the former CEO of the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA, was appointed in April by the South African cabinet following an extensive recruitment process by USAASA board of directors in consultations with Siyabonga Cwele, the telecommunications and postal services minister.
Mtimde is also a senior member of the ruling African National Congress (ANC).
Mawethu Cawe, USAASA acting chairperson and the board and the entire board say they are extending a warm welcome to Mtimde.
