South African singing sensation and praise poet Jessica Mbangeni will jet off to Central Africa, where she is due to perform next week at the 9th edition of the Festival for Pan African Music (FESPAM) in Congo-Brazzaville, her office revealed yesterday in a statement.
Jessica’s gig includes paying tribute to Nelson Mandela in his 95th birthday which will be celebrated on 18 July 2013, the statement said. The former South African President is still in critical but stable condition in hospital.
FESPAM kicks off today in the Congolese capital Brazzaville, and will end on 21 July. It is believed that Jessica was invited to perform at the FESPAM after she gave a five-star performance on 1 July at the Medi-Clinic in Pretoria where Mandela is admitted.
“My performance in Pretoria was a symbolic way of giving him flowers, my poetry being the flowers. These are flowers that will never go dry but will be remembered forever,” she said.
