‘Past, Present and Future of the African National Congress (ANC) Women’s League, and Implication for Gender Equality’ is a theme for the 2014 Helen Joseph Memorial Lecture that will take place next Monday 18 August 2014 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The ANC Women’s League is one of the branches of South Africa’ ruling party, ANC, which has been ruling this economic powerhouse since 1994.
The lecture will be held at 5.30pm at the University of Johannesburg in Auckland Park. It will be delivered by Prof Shireen Hassim, a lecturer of politics at Wits University.
Hassim is also the author of ‘Women’s Organisations and Democracy in South Africa: Contesting Authority’ (2006), which won the 2007 American Political Science Association’s Victoria Shuck Award for best book on women and politics.
