African reporters and editors working on all media platforms have until 15 March 2013 to submit their entries in 10 categories of the Diageo Africa Business Reporting Awards. The organisers said the awards, now in its 10th anniversary, aim to reward journalists and editors who provide ‘high quality’ coverage of the business environment across Africa.
To qualify, all submissions must have been published or broadcast in the period of between 24 March 2012 and 15 March 2013. The awards ceremony will be held on 11 July 2013 in central London. Each winner will get a trophy, a certificate and £500.
Here are the categories:
• Best Information and Communication Technology (ICT) feature or series of articles
• Best Finance feature or series or series of articles
• Best Infrastructure feature or series of articles (mostly energy and transport)
• Best Agribusiness/Environment feature or series of related features
• Best Tourism feature
• Best Business News story
• Best Business feature
• Best Newcomer
• Media of the Year
• Journalist of the Year
The organisers said the judges will be looking for features that reflect journalistic integrity and ethics, and a true commitment to reporting that does not sensationalise stories or individuals.
